For the 2017-2018 school year, Deer Point Elementary is excited to pilot a form of departmentalizing that groups children based on their strong points, and also where they need more attention and assistance. After meeting with their homeroom group, they will disperse for Reading and Math based on their current ability. This allows teachers to be more specific with instruction and differentiation. Your child will be with two amazing teachers throughout the day! Which means they will get double the attention and focus.

Here is a little bit of information about my family and I….
I was born and raised right here in Panama City. I attended Mosley High School, Gulf Coast, and Florida State University. After graduating from college, I taught for 6 years at Merritt Brown Middle School. It was a wonderful place to start my journey in the education field.
After my first school year was over, my husband Matt and I were married. It's hard to believe that was 11 years ago!
Within the first 4 years of our marriage, we were blessed to welcome two precious boys into our family. They are truly my heart!
Mason is 9 years old and is in the 4th grade here at Deer Point. He's one smart little boy with a big heart.
Parker is 5 years old, and is very excited that he gets to start Kindergarten with big brother and mom at what he's calling "Big Boy School".

I enjoy singing almost as much as I enjoy breathing. My family and I travel and sing about Jesus anytime we can. I consider it one of my life's greatest blessings to get to do what I love so much alongside my family.
I want you to know that I take my responsibility to you and your child very seriously. It is my daily goal to be the type of teacher that I would want my children to have. Please feel free to come to me at any point with any questions or concerns that you may have and I will do my very best to help in any way that I can! We are going to ROCK 3rd Grade!

Hi there! Welcome to Mrs. Chapman's 3rd Grade Class. I am SO excited to have each and every kiddo that I am blessed to teach.
This will be my 4th year teaching 3rd grade. I am partial to my 3rd graders and think they are the best ever.
Some things you may want to know about me --- I married my high school sweetheart, Jonathan Chapman, after dating for 7 years! We have a 6 year old daughter named Maddie Grace (she's a firecracker). We also have a dog named Beatrice. She was rescued so we aren't too sure of her age, or the origin of her name for that matter.
I was born and raised right here in Panama City! I went to Mosley High School and then to FSU (GO NOLES) where I obtained my Bachelor degree in Business Administration. After 5 years of being a Financial Analyst at the Navy Base I decided to become a teacher... which was an amazing decision to make. Becoming a teacher has fulfilled a huge part of who I am as a person and I count it a blessing to teach your kids every day. I LOVE to come to work every day... Even hard days at school are good as long as I get to be with my kiddos.

This is my second year as an Angler and also my second year working beside Amy Henderson. We are excited to team-teach your kiddos this year and are expecting nothing less than stellar results from it.

Hello! Welcome to my 3rd grade class! I am very excited to have each child that I am blessed with! This will be my fourth year teaching, and my second year in third grade. My previous years I have been in second grade, and as much as I loved second grade I am very excited to continue my journey in third!
I earned my teaching degree at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. I love teaching and that is very easy to see in my classroom.

Some things about me.......... I married my high school sweetheart, Larry Gray after dating for many years. Together we have two wild and crazy, sweet, loving boys. There names are Ayden who is 11, and Ashton who is 3! We also have a dog named Ranger who is about 2 years old!

Hello parents and students! Welcome to Mrs. Gann's 3rd grade class. I am so excited to be a part of your child's 3rd grade experience this year! There is so much to look forward to, and I know this will be the best year ever!
A little bit about me...
I was born and raised in Panama City. I attended The Florida State University and graduated with a bachelors in elementary education. This is my fourth year working for Bay District Schools, and my second year of teaching in my own classroom.
My family is so important to me! I am married to the love of my life, Cory Gann. We have been married since January of 2016.
I enjoy singing, dancing, and anything theatrical. My favorite movie of all time is Mary Poppins, which will reflect in my classroom! I love spending time with the people I love. If I am not at school you can find me at church, exploring outside, or at your nearest Chick Fil a!
My prayer for this year is that we will not only have a safe and fun year of learning, but that we as a class will become a family that works together to be as successful as we can be!

Hi! Welcome to Mrs. Smith’s 3rd Grade English/Language Arts class! I am so excited to be part of the Deer Point family! I have taught second grade for ten years at Bay Haven and I’m thrilled for this new school year! I was born and raised here in Panama City. I attended Rutherford High School, Gulf Coast Community College, and finally Florida State University Panama City. GO NOLES!
My husband and I have been married for ten years and we have two kiddos, Colten and Carter. Colten is 8 years old and he will be a Deer Point 3rd grader. He is the starting catcher for his baseball team. Carter is a spoiled rotten one year old with tons of energy. Our boys are precious gifts and we are very thankful they are healthy and happy.
I look forward to getting to know each one of my students and their families this year. I have very high standards of excellence in my class not only academically, but behaviorally. I work very hard to ensure that my lessons are top notch and meet the needs of all learners in my class.

Hi! My name is Lori Hicks and I am so excited to be joining the third grade team this year!!! Teaching is an absolute passion of mine. Growing up I loved school! I always knew that I would be a teacher when I grew up. I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University in 2004. I am married to my wonderful husband, Steve.We have two daughters - Olivia, who will be in 11th grade this year at Mosley High School, and Whitney, who will be here with me in 3rd grade. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy crafting, reading, hanging out with my family, and going to the movies. My family and I are huge Disney World fans. We try to go twice a year, and I love everything Disney. :-)
This will be my twelfth year teaching. I have taught grades 1st-3rd. I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child's years of schooling! I always strive to teach with excitement and enthusiasm so that my students develop a desire to become life-long learners. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
